pedro@plainworks.devFrequently Asked Questions
Do I need an account?
No. GarageBinder has no account, no sign-in, and no cloud server of its own. You open the app and start logging.
Is my data safe if I lose my phone?
Two layers. Your phone's normal iCloud Backup includes GarageBinder data by default. If you turn on iCloud Sync in Settings, your garage also lives in your private iCloud container and shows up on your other devices automatically. You can also export a JSON backup at any time.
How does iCloud Sync work?
It uses Apple's CloudKit and your private iCloud container. Both devices need to be signed into the same iCloud account, and both need GarageBinder installed with iCloud Sync enabled in Settings. We never see your data.
Can I track more than one vehicle?
Yes. The app is multi-vehicle from the start — daily driver, motorcycle, project car, RV, the spouse's car, the kid's first car. Each vehicle gets its own card, history, and reminders.
What can I export?
Three things: a printable PDF service history (handy for a private buyer or your accountant), a CSV of records, and a full JSON backup that GarageBinder can re-import.
How do reminders work?
Set them by date, by mileage, or both. As you log mileage updates, GarageBinder watches for reminders that are coming due and surfaces them on the home screen. Local push notifications fire when something is due.
Will I lose data if I delete the app?
If iCloud Sync is on, your data stays in iCloud and comes back when you reinstall and sign in. If iCloud Sync is off, deleting the app deletes the local data too — export a JSON backup first if you might want it later.
I have a feature request.
Send it. The roadmap is steered by what real owners actually ask for.
